Kayaking on Chivirkuysky bay


Kayaking is the best way for Lake Baikal Region nature exploring; for enjoing it's flora and fauna; for getting aquainted with the local culture and traditions. The Chivirkuisky Bay (the second by it's size on Baikal) has a lot of advantages for such a trip. The water of the Bay, enclosed by Svyatoy Nos (Holy Nose) peninsula gets warm quickly. It has a lot of picturesque bays, excellent beaches and native sights. You can take a chance to get a curative bath.

Itenerary:
Day 1. Arrival in Ulan-Ude, city-tour. An excursion to the open-air Ethnographical museum and Buddhist temple - datsan.
Day 2. Departure for Ust-Barguzin Settlement (250 km). Stopping for picnic on the shore of Baikal.
Day 3. Departure for Monakhovo settlement. Preparations for an active part of the route. Starting kayaking.
Day 4-7. Kayaking. You will enjoy a unique flora and fauna of this region. You will be tought by you guides the way of cooking traditional dishes from you catch.
Day 8-9. Due to the program, you will climb to the survey point of Svyatoi Nos Peninsula (1877 m.) It allows you to take a birds-eye on the all passed itenerary. Lake Baikal is visible for many kilometres. Also, you will take a chance to observe The Ushkanie Islands, famous by it's their forest an endemic of Baikal - fresh water seal. The biggest Island of Baikal - Olkhon and the western shore of lake could be seen.
Day 10. Departure for Ulan-Ude. (Bed and Breakfast)
Day 11. Departure for home.

Who may participate:

Any phisically healthy person can take part in this tour. No age limitation. You may come even with kids - they will be able to manage the trip. You don't have to be skillful in kayaking. The Chivirkuysky bay is a calm place and there are no big waves. It will take you a couple of hours to learn kayaking.
